You can leave a lasting gift to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston by naming the organization in your will or retirement account. It is simpler than most people expect, and it helps vulnerable neighbors in the Houston area for years to come.
Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston accepts planned gifts in two main forms. First, a bequest in your will — a written instruction directing a portion of your estate to the organization. Second, a beneficiary designation on an IRA (Individual Retirement Account) or other retirement plan. Both options let you support the mission without giving up anything during your lifetime. If you already have a plan in place, you can notify Catholic Charities and receive honorary membership in their Legacy Society, a group of donors recognized for their long-term commitment. Membership includes invitations to events and updates from the organization. Anonymous membership is also welcome.
Start by deciding what kind of gift fits your situation — a will bequest, a retirement account beneficiary change, or both. Your estate attorney can draft or update the language for you. If you do not have an attorney, Catholic Charities can refer you to a qualified local estate lawyer at no charge. Once your plans are set, let Catholic Charities know so they can welcome you into the Legacy Society.
