Good first step: Act Visit or reserve the Barbara Jordan Community Center for your next event
Call Houston Parks and Recreation at 832-395-7000 to ask about reserving the community center at Barbara Jordan Park.
Barbara Jordan Park is a free, active green space in Houston's Fifth Ward, named after the trailblazing congresswoman and state senator who grew up right here in this neighborhood. Whether you want to jog, shoot hoops, play tennis, or use the outdoor exercise stations, there's something for everyone. The on-site community center is also available to reserve for local gatherings.
The park has a jogging trail, outdoor exercise stations, basketball courts, and tennis courts — all free to use. The Barbara Jordan Community Center sits on the park grounds and can be reserved for community events. A few simple rules keep the space safe and enjoyable for everyone: no glass containers, no open fires, pets must stay on a leash, and vehicles should park only in designated lots.
Head to the park during open hours and use any of the outdoor amenities at no cost. If you want to host a community event, look into reserving the Barbara Jordan Community Center through Harris County Precinct 1 (HCP1). Before your visit, take a quick look at the park rules — things like picking up after your pet, cooking only on designated grills, and keeping noise considerate of others — so your time there goes smoothly.
