Good first step: Act Visit a Precinct One park near you
Search 'Harris County Precinct One Parks' at hcp1.net to find trails, playgrounds, and fishing spots close to home.
Harris County Precinct One parks are free, welcoming green spaces across the county. Whether you want to jog a trail, let the kids loose on a playground, fish at a lake, or just breathe some fresh air, there is a park for you. Commissioner Rodney Ellis has worked to turn floodplain land into places people can actually use and enjoy.
Precinct One parks offer jogging trails, playgrounds, fishing and boating access, and sports facilities. The Parks Department handles land clearing, design, construction, playground installation, trail landscaping, and upkeep of lake and creek property. The Clear Creek Chain of Parks in southern Harris County is one example of floodplain land turned into public recreation space. Admission is free at all locations.
Visit any Precinct One park and bring the whole family — no fee, no membership needed. Follow the posted rules so everyone has a great time: keep pets on a leash except in designated dog parks, pick up after your pet, cook only on designated grills or camp stoves, and skip the glass containers. If you want to host an event that involves alcohol or fireworks, you can apply for a permit. Staying respectful of noise levels and other visitors keeps the parks enjoyable for the whole community.
