The University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) runs civic engagement programs that help students dig into identity, democratic values, and voting rights. If you want to think more deeply about how society works — and your place in it — these programs give you a solid starting point.
UHCL's civic engagement programs cover four main areas: exploring your own identity and values, looking at democratic principles and current events from many angles, understanding how diverse cultures shape society, and learning why voting matters. The Center for Student Engagement runs all of it.
Start by reaching out to the Center for Student Engagement to find out which programs are currently available. Ask about programs that match your interests, whether that's voting rights, current events, or cultural diversity. Then show up, ask questions, and bring what you learn back to your everyday conversations and community.
