Life gets hard. In 2025 alone, the 2-1-1 helpline connected more than 1.2 million people with help — over 225,000 for utility bills, more than 177,000 for rent or mortgage, and nearly 108,000 for food programs. Whatever you're facing, you are not alone, and the call is free.
United Way of Greater Houston is a nonprofit organization that helps people in the Houston area build better lives. They focus on three main areas: helping families reach financial stability, supporting early childhood and youth development programs, and connecting people to health care resources. They run the 211 Texas/United Way HELPLINE, which is available 24 hours a day to help people find food, shelter, disaster recovery support, and other services. They also work with donors, volunteers, and other nonprofits to address the community's most pressing needs, and they support programs that help veterans, families in crisis, and anyone struggling to make ends meet.
