The 211 helpline exists so you don't have to figure that out alone. Specialists know the local landscape and can match you with real services close to home. There is no shame in calling — over a million of your neighbors did it last year.
United Way of Greater Houston is a nonprofit organization that helps people in the Houston area build better lives. They focus on three main areas: helping families reach financial stability, supporting early childhood and youth development programs, and connecting people to health care resources. They run the 211 Texas/United Way HELPLINE, which is available 24 hours a day to help people find food, shelter, disaster recovery support, and other services. They also work with donors, volunteers, and other nonprofits to address the community's most pressing needs, and they support programs that help veterans, families in crisis, and anyone struggling to make ends meet.
