Good first step: Act Texas House Legislative Calendars website
Go to the Texas House of Representatives website and search for 'Legislative Calendars' to see what bills your lawmakers are discussing this week.
The Texas House of Representatives posts its official legislative calendars online. These calendars show which bills and resolutions are scheduled for a vote — and when. Whether you want to track a bill you care about or just understand what the House is working on, this resource puts that information at your fingertips.
There are four main types of House calendars. The Daily House Calendar lists new bills and resolutions scheduled for consideration that day. The Supplemental House Calendar picks up where the daily calendar left off — it can include bills that were not reached the day before, postponed business, or measures moving to a final vote. The Local, Consent, and Resolutions Calendar covers local or noncontroversial bills. The Congratulatory and Memorial Calendar lists honorary resolutions honoring people or events. Near the end of a regular session, the chief clerk of the House also prepares a separate list of items eligible for consideration — including House bills with Senate changes and conference committee reports that are ready for a final look.
You can search calendars by a specific date or by legislative session. If a bill you are following is on the schedule, you will see it listed under the appropriate calendar type. The site also shows upcoming dates so you can check ahead. For a deeper look at how the calendar process works, a full explanation is available as a PDF document on the site.
