WHAT IS THIS? Goodwill Houston opened a new education and training center at 8225 S. Gessner Road in December 2024. This facility provides career training, professional certifications, and workforce development programs to help Houston residents gain job skills and find meaningful employment.
WHY DOES IT MATTER? Houston's job market is growing, but many residents need training to access good-paying positions. This center bridges that gap by offering hands-on education programs that connect directly to local employer needs. It helps our community members move from unemployment or underemployment into stable careers that support their families.
HOW DOES IT IMPACT ME? Located in southwest Houston, this center serves neighborhoods throughout Harris County. The programs prepare residents for in-demand jobs in healthcare, technology, manufacturing, and retail. Students receive not just training but also supportive services like career counseling and job placement assistance. This means more skilled workers in our community and stronger local businesses.
HOW DO I GET INVOLVED? The center begins full operations in 2026. Contact Goodwill Houston to learn about upcoming program enrollment. You can also support this work by shopping at Goodwill stores or volunteering. Visit their website or call their main number to get information about specific training programs that match your interests and career goals.
