Harris County Commissioners Court approved an additional $100,000 for solar panel installation through Sunshine Renewable Solutions. This amendment expands the county's solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for the Harris County Flood Control District. The project installs solar panels on county buildings to generate clean electricity from sunlight. This matters because it reduces our county's energy costs and environmental impact. When county buildings use solar power, taxpayers save money on electricity bills over time. Solar energy also reduces air pollution, which improves health for families across Harris County neighborhoods. The Flood Control District manages flooding and drainage throughout our region, so powering their facilities with clean energy helps protect both our environment and our infrastructure. Solar projects create local jobs in installation, maintenance, and manufacturing. They also make our power grid more reliable during emergencies.
