Harris County approved a $1 million contract with Cascade Civil Services to design and build the Telge Stormwater Detention Basin near Pleasant Grove Road in Cypress. This project is part of our county's flood control system in the Cypress Creek Watershed. The basin will capture and hold stormwater during heavy rains, reducing flood risk for homes and businesses in northwest Harris County. This matters because flooding threatens our safety, damages our property, and disrupts our daily lives. The Cypress area has seen significant growth, making flood protection more important than ever. The engineering work includes designing the basin, managing the bidding process for construction, and overseeing the building phase. This project uses bond money that voters approved to improve our flood protection. The contract includes a goal of 19.60% participation by minority and women-owned businesses, supporting our local economy. Residents can track this project's progress through Harris County Flood Control District meetings and updates. You can contact the project manager at Yesenia.Martinez@hcfcd.hctx.net for questions. This basin will join dozens of other flood control projects protecting our communities from storms and hurricanes that threaten Southeast Texas.
Better flood protection keeps your family safe and protects your home from water damage. The Cypress area is growing fast, and we need stronger defenses against heavy rains and storms that can flood neighborhoods.
