Harris County Gets Extra Funds for Drug Treatment Program

Harris County received an additional $7,695 in state grant money for its Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Program. This program helps people with drug addiction get the treatment they need to recover and rebuild their lives. The money comes from the Texas Governor's Criminal Justice Division and doesn't require Harris County to match any funds. The Harris County Commissioners Court approved this funding amendment in May 2024. This program matters because addiction affects families across our community. When people get proper treatment, they can return to work, care for their families, and contribute to our neighborhoods. Treatment programs reduce crime and make our streets safer.
