Houston Endowment is a nonpartisan, private foundation founded in 1937 by Jesse H. and Mary Gibbs Jones. It exists to improve the quality of life for everyone in Greater Houston. With $2.5 billion in assets, the foundation invests in four main areas: preK-12 public education, civic engagement, arts and culture, and greenspaces. It gives out more than $100 million in grants each year to nonprofits and community partners across the Greater Houston region. Its headquarters, opened in September 2022, is located at 3683 Willia Street in Houston's near-downtown neighborhood bordered by Buffalo Bayou, Montrose, and the Houston Heights.
