Overview
LULAC Houston helps local students pay for college through our scholarship program. Since 1932, we have raised money in our community to help Hispanic students afford higher education. Every dollar our local councils raise gets matched by corporate partners, which doubles the impact of our fundraising efforts. Last year, LULAC councils across the country awarded over $776,000 to more than 1,000 students. Our Houston councils are part of this nationwide effort to make college more affordable. We welcome all students in our community, regardless of their family's ability to pay. These scholarships help students attend community colleges, four-year universities, and graduate schools. Many Houston students use these funds to stay close to home at schools like the University of Houston, Texas Southern University, or Houston Community College. The scholarship program addresses a real need in our city, where college costs keep rising while many families struggle to save for their children's education. Our local councils raise money through community events like fundraising dinners, car washes, and festivals throughout the year. To apply for a scholarship, contact your nearest LULAC council or visit the national LULAC website. Applications typically open in the fall for the following academic year. You can also help by volunteering with fundraising events or donating to support future students in our community.
