Federal grants cover the full cost — no city dollars required.
The project delivers three main pieces of infrastructure. First, a 350-foot suspension bridge over Buffalo Bayou. Second, a 300-foot elevated boardwalk sitting about 10 feet above grade through a 500-year floodplain. Third, a 14-foot-wide shared path running along the I-610 West Loop frontage road. Improved crossings, wayfinding signs, and lighting round out the design. The project is part of the Memorial Park Ten-Year Master Plan, which City Council adopted back in 2015, and was developed with the Uptown Development Authority and Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) 16 — a special district that channels local property-tax growth into area improvements.
