Alexander Deussen Park stretches across 309 acres along Lake Houston in Harris County. It's a free, family-friendly destination packed with boat launches, fishing piers, playgrounds, trails, pavilions, and even a Senior Center — all open most days of the year.
The park includes multiple boat launches and a renovated T-Pier for docking, plus fishing piers and shoreline access around the lake. Five playgrounds are spread throughout the grounds. Fourteen pavilions of various sizes come with BBQ grills, picnic tables, restrooms, and parking — perfect for family cookouts or group events. Four trailheads connect you to walking and jogging trails. An active Senior Center and a community center round out the on-site amenities. Admission is free. Note that alcohol is allowed only by permit, and glass containers, fireworks, open fires, and motorized vehicles on trails are all prohibited.
Before you visit, check the park's current hours online since they shift between summer and winter schedules. If you want a pavilion for a gathering, reserve one in advance through the Harris County Precinct One Community Portal. Boaters should review the Lake Houston Water Safety Map to find boat ramp locations and nearby safety resources like Lake Patrol and Houston Fire Department stations. Pack food in non-glass containers, keep pets on a leash, and plan to leave no trace — pet waste goes in the trash bins, and littering is prohibited.
