MECA (Multicultural Education and Counseling through the Arts) is a community-based nonprofit founded in 1977, committed to the healthy development of under-served and under-represented families through arts and cultural programming, the promotion of academic excellence, support services, and community building. It delivers arts education to Houston-area youth via in-school, out-of-school, and summer programs, and offers free wraparound support services such as tutoring, mentoring, counseling, and college prep. It operates from the historic Dow School and TBH Center campuses.
Out of School Time Program from MECA, a United Way of Greater Houston partner, providing youth a safe environment and constructive fine-arts classes and workshops outside school hours; enrolled students are eligible for free support services. Tuition-based; registration is by appointment, first-come first-served.
