Good Stories About Animals and People Who Help ThemGood Good Good is a website that shares positive news stories about animals and the people who care for them. The site features many heartwarming stories, like mini therapy horses bringing joy to lonely seniors, and wildlife-sniffing dogs that can detect hidden trafficked animals with 98% accuracy using just air samples. Other stories include a judge who ruled that dogs are legally considered 'immediate family,' divers discovering a new underwater species that looks like a panda, and a critically endangered parrot making a comeback thanks to berries. The site also covers how Indigenous communities in Bolivia have helped protect nearly 1 million hectares of Amazon rainforest, and how incarcerated men are helping rehabilitate injured squirrels and baby possums in prison. Faith Houses Tour Videos - Learn About Different Religious BuildingsInterfaith Ministries for Greater Houston created a video series called 'Welcome to Our House' that teaches people about different religious buildings and faiths. The series has 9 videos, each about 12-19 minutes long, showing what it's like inside houses of worship from different religions. You can learn about Christian Protestant and Catholic churches, Jewish synagogues, Islamic mosques, Hindu temples, Sikh gurdwaras, Baháʼí temples, Unitarian Universalist churches, and Zoroastrian fire temples. Each video shows the common elements and practices you might find when visiting these sacred spaces. The videos help people understand different faiths and build bridges between religious communities in Houston. There's also a discussion guide to help groups talk about what they learned. This educational series was made possible by The Eleanor & Frank Freed Foundation with support from Debbie & Floyd Kearns. It's a great resource for anyone who wants to learn about religious diversity and build understanding between different faith communities.
Learn About Different Religions and Fight Religious BiasThe Institute for Islamic, Christian and Jewish Studies (ICJS) offers free educational resources to help people learn about different religions and fight religious bias. Their online library includes videos, articles, and discussion guides about topics like Passover, Easter, and Ramadan. They teach the difference between debate and dialogue, showing how to have conversations that build understanding instead of arguments. ICJS creates video series for classrooms and religious groups, including one about water justice in Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. They also feature voices from teachers, faith leaders, and community members sharing their experiences with interfaith work. The organization partnered with WYPR radio to create a series called 'Living Questions' that explores how different faiths influence our lives. Rice Study Shows Asian Americans Are Houston's Fastest Growing GroupRice University's Kinder Institute is doing a big study about Asian Americans in Houston. This group has grown a lot - from less than 2% of people in 1980 to almost 10% today. That's over 655,000 people! The study looks at seven main Asian groups: Indian, Chinese, Filipino, Japanese, Korean, Pakistani, and Vietnamese people. Researchers asked 2,100 people questions about their lives, work, politics, and experiences with unfair treatment. They found that Houston's Asian community is very diverse, mostly born in other countries, and well-educated. About 4 out of 10 Asian residents said they faced discrimination in the past year. Most Asian residents have moderate political views and care most about family, gender, ethnicity, and being American when it comes to their identity. The study covers Harris, Fort Bend, Montgomery, and Brazoria counties. This research helps us understand how Asian Americans are shaping Houston's future as one of the fastest-growing groups in the region.

Classes happen once a month on Saturday mornings. You'll visit different nature areas like ponds, bird watching spots, and outdoor classrooms.Gulf in Depth ExhibitAn interactive exhibit at Moody Gardens that teaches visitors about the deep ocean parts of the Gulf of Mexico. You can explore 3 hands-on stations that show how the Gulf looks from the surface down to thousands of feet deep. Learn about sea creatures that live in the dark depths and how scientists are fixing damage from the 2010 oil spill. The exhibit has a light-up model of ocean zones, flip-through pictures of sea animals, and activities to discover how scientists map the ocean floor. You can also watch real videos from underwater restoration trips.
