Getting there
Citywide — Harris County. Services may be provided in your home, in the community, or via telehealth. The Harris Center also operates five Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) residential locations across the county.
Living with an intellectual or developmental disability — or supporting someone who does — can be hard work. The Harris Center takes a team approach, pairing you with clinicians, case managers, and community partners who know Houston's resources. You do not have to figure this out alone.
Programs cover a wide range of needs across the lifespan. Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) supports children under age 3 with developmental delays. The Feeding Disorder program helps children and teens ages 9 months to 18 years with mealtime challenges. Crisis Intervention and Community Based Supports (CBS) are available for individuals age 3 and older who are in a behavioral or psychiatric crisis. The Positive Behavior Supports (PBS) program addresses frequent behavioral challenges for ages 3 and up. The Coffeehouse program builds social and employment skills for adults 18 and older with Autism or IDD. Outpatient Biopsychosocial Approach for IDD (OBI) provides mental health care for people who have both IDD and mental health needs. Community First Choice (CFC) connects families to Texas Medicaid home-based attendant services for daily living tasks. Residential care is available through Intermediate Care Facilities for adults with intellectual disabilities.
