Request for discussion and possible action regarding the integration of the Office of Sustainability into Pollution Control Services in the 2027 Proposed Budget.
Harris County Commissioners Court will discuss merging the Office of Sustainability into Pollution Control Services on July 9, 2026.
On July 9, 2026, Harris County Commissioners Court will discuss and possibly vote on merging the Office of Sustainability into Pollution Control Services as part of the proposed 2027 budget. The Office of Sustainability handles climate action, environmental justice, and resilience planning. Pollution Control Services focuses on air, water, and soil quality. The proposed change would combine both departments under one roof. Residents can attend, sign up to speak, or email Mary.Cesar@harriscountytx.gov for details.
This vote could change which county department handles climate planning and environmental justice work in Harris County. Neighbors may want to know if those programs continue, change, or are reassigned under a different department.
