On July 9, 2026, Harris County Commissioners Court will vote on renewing the Harris County Sheriff's Office's yearly application for the federal Law Enforcement Support Office (LESO) Program, also called the 1033 Program. This program lets local law enforcement agencies receive surplus U.S. Department of Defense equipment — such as vehicles, clothing, tools, and tactical gear — at little or no cost.
