Request for approval to execute a Data Sharing Agreement with the Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO) to share certain regulatory and environmental health data.
Harris County may share food inspection and health data with a national food safety nonprofit to support public health oversight.
Harris County Commissioners Court will vote on July 9, 2026, on whether to let Harris County Public Health share food inspection records and other health data with the Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO). AFDO is a nonprofit that helps food and drug safety agencies work together using science-based rules. The shared data would go into a national food safety system to help agencies spot trends and better protect public health.
Harris County may share local food inspection and environmental health data with a national nonprofit. Residents who eat at inspected restaurants or use regulated food businesses could have local inspection data entered into a national database.
