Harris County Commissioners Court is being asked to approve a batch of property tax refund payments (File 26-3315) at its August 25, 2026 meeting. Under Texas law, refunds over $5,000 must be authorized by the court before the Harris County Tax Office can issue them. Residents who think they overpaid property taxes can apply for a refund at hctax.net or by calling 713-274-8160.
If you overpaid property taxes in Harris County, this vote lets the county legally send those refund checks. Without court approval, refunds over $5,000 cannot be issued.
