On July 9, 2026, Harris County Commissioners Court will vote on whether to accept over $8.49 million in federal grant funds for drainage improvements in the Bear Creek Village subdivision. The county must also provide a matching contribution of nearly $3 million. The money comes through FEMA's Flood Mitigation Assistance program, managed by the Texas Water Development Board. Bear Creek Village has suffered serious flooding — during Hurricane Harvey, about 1,396 homes, or roughly 60% of the subdivision, flooded.
