The Harris County Clerk's Office is hosting its free Back to School Birth Certificate Event on Saturday, August 1, 2026. The event helps Harris County families get certified copies of their child's Texas birth certificate before school enrollment. The first 100 or more attendees may receive a free certificate, with others available for $23. Free backpacks and school supplies are also given away while supplies last. A valid photo ID is required.
Harris County is asking to spend up to $1,200 in public funds on food and coffee for a County Clerk event on August 1, 2026. Residents who pay county taxes have a stake in how those funds are approved and spent.
