On July 9, 2026, Harris County Commissioners Court will consider a resolution honoring Boys and Girls Country of Houston on its 55th anniversary. Founded in 1971 and located on more than 200 acres in Hockley, Texas, the organization is a licensed residential children's home serving kids ages 5–18 from families facing poverty, abuse, or neglect. It has served more than 1,600 children and offers a College & Career program supporting graduates into adulthood.
