Harris County Commissioners Court approved renewing contracts with four staffing companies to provide temporary medical workers for our public health system. These contracts with A-1 Personnel of Houston, Stability Staffing, TruBlu HR Solution, and Smarter HR Solutions will run from June 2026 to June 2027 and cost $800,000 total. This staffing helps Harris County Public Health maintain healthcare services when regular staff are sick, on leave, or when patient demand increases. The county requires these companies to include minority and women-owned businesses in their work. A-1 Personnel already meets this goal completely, while other vendors must reach 27% participation. These temporary workers help staff our community health centers, vaccine clinics, emergency response teams, and disease prevention programs. When we have enough medical staff, our health services stay open and accessible. This matters because Harris County Public Health serves over 4 million residents, especially those who cannot afford private healthcare. The temporary staff fill gaps so clinics stay open, vaccines remain available, and health inspections continue protecting our food and water safety.
