Harris County Commissioners Court approved a $300,000 contract renewal with DL Glover Utilities for ditch cleaning and regrading in the Genoa Camp Area of Precinct 2. This contract runs from September 2026 to September 2027 and helps maintain proper drainage in our neighborhoods. When ditches fill with debris, dirt, and vegetation, water cannot flow properly during storms. This causes flooding in streets and yards. Regular ditch maintenance protects homes and keeps roads passable during heavy rain. The Genoa Camp Area, located in southeast Harris County near Clear Lake, needs ongoing drainage work because of its low elevation and heavy rainfall. This contract ensures crews will remove buildup from ditches and reshape them so water flows correctly. The county achieved 22.48% participation from minority and women-owned businesses, exceeding the 9.9% goal. This means local diverse contractors get opportunities to serve our community. Residents in Precinct 2 can see this work happening in their neighborhoods and know their tax dollars support flood prevention.
