We will show what we know and where it came from.
When you call, you can say: “Hi, I saw "Harris County Adds $25K for Children's Dental Health Program" on Community Exchange and want to know how to take part.”
Harris County added $25,000 to a dental health education program that operates in local elementary schools. Families with children in participating schools may see the program offered in classrooms.
Harris County provides an additional $25,000 to the CATCH Healthy Smiles Program, which delivers dental health education in elementary schools at no cost to participating schools.
Needs official bill text, a fiscal note, or a transparent calculation before we state this impact.
Harris County Commissioners Court approved an additional $25,000 for the CATCH Healthy Smiles Program, a partnership with the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. This program teaches children healthy habits to prevent tooth decay and gum disease. The CATCH program combines classroom learning with hands-on activities that make dental health fun for kids.
Children learn proper brushing and flossing techniques, understand which foods help their teeth stay strong, and practice habits they can use at home. The program reaches elementary schools across Harris County, bringing dental health education directly to students. This matters because many children in our community don't have regular access to dental care.
Tooth pain can make it hard for kids to focus in school or eat properly. By teaching prevention early, we help children avoid serious dental problems later. The program also trains teachers and school staff to continue supporting good dental habits throughout the school year.

Parents benefit too, learning how to support their children's oral health at home. Schools interested in bringing CATCH Healthy Smiles to their students can contact Harris County Public Health Services. The program is free for participating schools.
