The University of Houston Honors College Civic Engagement program is a co-curricular program run out of the UH Honors College in Houston, Texas. It helps students learn what it means to be active members of their communities through courses, internships, fellowships, and campaigns. Students can take an Honors class that explores the history and meaning of civic engagement, apply for public service internships through the Civic Houston Internship Program (CHIP), register voters through the Get Out the Vote campaign, prepare for the U.S. citizenship exam through Citizenship Learning, and apply for competitive civic fellowships. The program is overseen by the Office of Community Engagement in the Honors College, with Dr. Janet Lawler serving as the primary faculty contact.
