The Houston Parks and Recreation Department manages more than 380 parks, over 200 miles of trails, 45 community centers, 35 public swimming pools, and dozens of sports complexes across Houston. HPARD operates year-round youth and adult sports leagues, summer camps, senior programs, and special events. Community centers offer fitness classes, dance studios, computer labs, and meeting rooms. HPARD manages Memorial Park, Hermann Park, Spotts Park, and other signature greenspaces. The department's After School Achievement Program provides structured after-school programming at community centers throughout Houston for school-age children.
