Overview
Places 4 People is Harris County Precinct 4's infrastructure improvement program that partners with local organizations to build better, safer communities. Commissioner Lesley Briones launched this program in 2023 to tackle four key challenges: reducing flooding, connecting neighborhoods with better roads and sidewalks, improving access to parks, and making our communities safer. The program works by inviting local groups to propose projects that will make real improvements in their neighborhoods. Since 2023, Places 4 People has invested $220 million into 52 projects across Precinct 4. This means new drainage systems to prevent flooding, sidewalks that connect schools to neighborhoods, park improvements that give families safe places to play, and infrastructure upgrades that make our streets safer. For residents in Harris County Precinct 4 communities like Tomball, Cypress, Spring, and northwest Harris County, this program directly improves daily life. Better drainage means fewer flooded streets during storms. New sidewalks mean safer routes to school and work. Park improvements create spaces where families can gather and children can play safely. Commissioner Briones regularly launches 'Call 4 Projects' periods when community organizations can submit their ideas for funding. Local nonprofits, community groups, and municipal utility districts can apply for grants to address infrastructure needs in their areas.
