Legacy Community Health in Houston offers injectable HIV prevention and treatment as a real alternative to daily pills. Whether you want to prevent HIV or manage it, a shot every month or two months may fit your life better than a daily routine.
There are two injectable options at Legacy. The first is injectable PrEP, a bimonthly (every two months) shot for adults and adolescents over 77 lbs who do not have HIV but are at risk of getting it through sex. The second is injectable ART, a monthly shot for adults who are already living with HIV. Both replace the need for a daily oral medication.
Talk to a Legacy provider to find out which option fits you. They will review your health history, confirm eligibility, and walk you through what to expect at each visit. You can reach Legacy at (832) 548-5221 or find a provider through their online directory. Both Houston locations accept appointments Monday through Saturday.

Legacy also offers HIV and STI screening, in-home HIV testing, LGBTQ services, behavioral health support, and pharmacy services including prescription delivery. If cost is a concern, Legacy accepts Medicaid and participates in the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program.
Remembering a daily pill is hard for a lot of people. These injectable options give you the same protection or treatment benefit without a daily reminder. Injectable PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) has actually shown better results than daily oral PrEP in clinical studies. Injectable ART (antiretroviral treatment) can keep your viral load undetectable — and an undetectable viral load means you cannot pass HIV to a partner through sex.
