High Meadows Branch Library, part of Harris County Public Library (HCPL), is a free community hub in northeast Houston offering programs for all ages — from English learning and citizenship prep to teen crafts, tech classes, and career support. Everything here is free and open to your whole family.
The branch offers a wide range of free programs and services. Citizenship Class helps adults work toward U.S. citizenship. Career and College Help connects you with guidance on job searching or higher education. ESL (English as a Second Language) Level 3 builds English skills for adult learners. Handmade History for Teens is a hands-on creative program for young people. Creative Computing Basics covers tools like PowerPoint and Canva — handy for school, work, or everyday life. The library also has a computer lab, meeting rooms, a Family Place Learning Center for young children, and free exam proctoring by appointment. Through a grant secured by the High Meadows Library Friends, the branch offers free Google Career Certificates on Coursera in fields like data analytics, IT support, project management, and digital marketing.
Use this library as a starting point, not a last resort. Whether you are brushing up on English, planning a career change, or looking for something enriching for your teenager, there is likely a program here that fits. Ongoing — programs run on a regular schedule. Check the library's website for current hours and upcoming events. Note that the branch closes early or shuts down on major holidays, including Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
