County purchasing rules can be slow and complicated. This project, called OPSS (Optimizing Procurement Speed and Service), is meant to find ways to speed things up and improve how the county buys goods and services. Better procurement can mean faster delivery of public services to residents.
If approved, the project will be led by the Office of County Administration and the Office of the Purchasing Agent. A stakeholder committee will be formed with representatives from more than a dozen county offices — including Public Health, Economic Equity and Opportunity, the County Engineer, the Tax Office, and others. The committee will review findings and help shape recommendations.

This is a discussion and vote item before the full Commissioners Court. If the court approves it, the project team and stakeholder committee will be formally established and begin their work. No public application or sign-up is needed to follow along — court meetings are open to the public.
