Bandit signs clutter neighborhoods, block sightlines, and are illegal under Texas law when posted in public rights-of-way. This vote would give trained volunteers the legal authority to take them down and properly dispose of them — keeping communities cleaner without waiting on government staff to do the work.
The Harris County Attorney's Office trained 15 volunteers through a Bandit Sign Volunteer Certification program. This agenda item asks Commissioners Court to sign off on an official order allowing those volunteers to remove signs that violate Texas law (Section 393.002) and dispose of them correctly (Section 393.
