Make your voice count

Call your representative about the environment

Showing up at a festival is great. Calling the people who vote on air quality, flooding, and parks funding is how things actually change. It takes 2 minutes.

What to say

"Hi, my name is [your name] and I live in [your neighborhood/ZIP]. I am calling because Earth Day is this week and I want to make sure environmental issues are a priority for your office."

Pick one:

  • "What is your position on air quality monitoring in East Houston and the Ship Channel communities?"
  • "I want to know what the office is doing about urban flooding and bayou maintenance in my area."
  • "I support increased funding for parks and urban tree canopy. Can I count on your vote?"
  • "What environmental legislation are you supporting this session?"

Why calling works

Congressional offices track every constituent call. A single call gets logged. Ten calls on the same issue gets a memo to the legislator. A hundred calls changes the agenda.

Houston has some of the worst air quality in America. Harris County floods more than anywhere else in the country. These are not abstract issues — they are what happens when nobody calls.

Your call takes 2 minutes. A vote takes years to undo.
