The Hidden Tribes study looked at how seven different groups of Americans felt about the 2018 midterm elections. The study found that the election results happened more because of who showed up to vote, not because people changed their minds about who to vote for. Liberal groups (Progressive Activists and Traditional Liberals) voted at high rates, while conservative groups (Devoted Conservatives and Traditional Conservatives) had fewer people vote.
Most Americans (87%) felt the country was more divided than ever before the election. After the election, 86% said they felt tired of all the political division. The good news is that 89% of Americans want both political parties to try to work together and find ways to agree on things.
This research helps us understand how different groups of people think about politics and what they want from their leaders.
