This Bridge Houston workshop teaches people how to turn crisis response into lasting community strength. When disasters like hurricanes hit Houston, neighbors come together to help each other in amazing ways. But what if we could keep that spirit of cooperation going all the time?
This session explores how to build permanent systems that help communities stay strong, not just during emergencies. The workshop is led by the American Leadership Forum Houston and draws lessons from the Greater Houston Disaster Alliance. Participants will learn how shared experiences during tough times can become shared power to make lasting change.
The session covers strategies for moving from just reacting to emergencies to actively building resilience in advance. Community members closest to the work will lead these efforts. By the end, participants will understand how to create sustainable community infrastructure that keeps the caring and coordination from disaster response alive in everyday life.
This helps neighborhoods become stronger and more prepared for whatever challenges come their way.
